Terms of Service
Effective date: October 31, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Forty Two LLC (13th Floor, 34 Sangwon 12-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea; referred to as “Virtu,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Virtu app or website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Virtu.
2. Account and authentication
You sign in to Virtu using a supported third-party account such as Google or Apple. You are responsible for safeguarding your sign-in credentials and for all activity under your account. You must not share or transfer your account to anyone else. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately at support@virtu-oso.com.
3. License to use the service
Subject to these Terms, Virtu grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Virtu software for your personal, non-commercial music practice and analysis. Except where applicable law expressly permits, you may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or redistribute the software or its underlying algorithms.
4. Free and Plus plans
Virtu offers Free and Plus plans; the features and limits of each plan are shown in the app. Plus is available as a monthly or annual subscription, and current pricing, final local-currency pricing, and trial eligibility are displayed on the in-app purchase screen before you confirm your purchase. We may change subscription prices; before any price increase takes effect, we will notify you in advance as required by applicable law and store policies and, where required, request your consent through the app store.
5. Free trial
Eligible new subscribers may receive a free trial. The in-app purchase screen shows the trial duration, whether your store account qualifies, and the renewal price before you confirm. Unless you cancel before the trial period ends, the trial automatically converts into a paid subscription at the displayed renewal price. You can cancel at any time in your Apple App Store or Google Play Store subscription settings.
6. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring monthly or annual cycle, depending on the plan you select, and renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled before the renewal date. Payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. To cancel a subscription, use your store account’s subscription settings; deleting your Virtu account or uninstalling the app does not cancel store billing. Refunds are governed by applicable law and the refund policies of the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
7. Your practice data and recordings
You retain full ownership of the recordings, MIDI data, and practice history you create. Virtu claims no ownership over your musical performances. Please see our Privacy Policy for details on how we process your data.
8. Intellectual property
The Virtu application, website, source code, algorithms, user interface designs, documentation, and original materials and curation are owned by Virtu or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Built-in catalog scores include public-domain works and licensed editions subject to their respective rights. Score files that you import into Virtu remain your property; you grant Virtu a limited, non-exclusive license to process your imported files solely to provide the service to you. That license ends when you delete the files or complete account deletion, subject to backup expiry and statutory retention described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Downloading score PDFs
When signed in, you may download catalog scores as PDFs from the Virtu website. Some scores require Plus access, and because copyright terms differ by country, some scores cannot be downloaded in certain countries. You may use a downloaded PDF for personal use, meaning your own practice, study, performance, and teaching in lessons, and you may keep it on your devices or print it for those purposes. You must not sell a downloaded PDF or its printouts, give copies to anyone else, or post or distribute them on a website, app, file-sharing service, or anywhere else others can get them. To share a score with someone, please share its page address instead of the file or a printout. This section only sets the terms of use for PDFs downloaded from Virtu; it does not affect the use of public-domain works themselves or any rights that cannot be limited by law.
10. Prohibited conduct
When using Virtu, you must not: (a) reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code or protected algorithms, except where applicable law does not allow that restriction; (b) circumvent, disable, or interfere with feature limits, subscription verification, or other access controls; (c) scrape, harvest, or systematically extract catalog scores or service data; (d) share, sell, or transfer account credentials; (e) use Virtu for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law or third-party rights; or (f) upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful data. Violating these rules may result in suspension or termination of your account.
11. Community and user content
Virtu lets members share posts, comments, reviews, profiles, and shared performances with other members (“User Content”). Before posting User Content for the first time, you must agree to these Terms and the Community guidelines. You must not post content prohibited by the Community guidelines, including spam or unauthorized ads, harassment or hate speech, sexual or violent material, other people’s personal information, copyright-infringing content, or inappropriate display names or photos. Virtu has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. We may screen User Content automatically before it appears, review user reports, and immediately remove content that violates the rules. Account suspension or termination follows the procedure in Section 17 (Suspension and termination) below. You can report content or block a member using the ⋯ menu on any post, comment, or review; blocking hides each other’s posts, comments, and reviews. Virtu reviews reports within 24 hours of receipt, removes violating content, and may suspend the account of the member who posted it. Deleting your account does not delete User Content you already posted: it remains visible as a deleted member’s post, so please delete any content you do not want kept before deleting your account.
12. Practice recommendations and analysis
Virtu provides practice passage recommendations, review scheduling, and performance analysis to support your practice. Because results depend on your score edition, MIDI or audio setup, practice habits, and individual circumstances, Virtu does not guarantee specific musical or exam outcomes.
13. Third-party services
Certain features, such as Google or Apple sign-in and App Store or Google Play billing, are provided by third-party services, and their respective terms apply when you use them. How third-party service providers process personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Virtu is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits Virtu’s liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any mandatory rights you have under applicable consumer protection laws.
15. Limitation of liability
Except for damages caused by Virtu’s intentional misconduct or gross negligence and liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, Virtu is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of the service, and Virtu’s aggregate liability for any other damages will not exceed the total amount you paid to Virtu in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
16. Your responsibility for damages
If you intentionally or negligently breach these Terms or infringe a third party’s rights and cause damage to Virtu as a result, you are responsible for compensating Virtu for that damage.
17. Suspension and termination
If you breach these Terms or cause harm to other users, Virtu, or third parties, Virtu may suspend your account or terminate this agreement. We will notify you of the reason in advance and give you an opportunity to object; however, if urgent action is needed to protect other users or prevent harm, we may act first and notify you promptly afterward. You may delete your account at any time through the app’s settings or the account deletion page. Deleting your Virtu account does not cancel an active Apple App Store or Google Play subscription; store billing continues until you cancel the subscription in your store account settings. Account deletion deletes or anonymizes your account details and removes your sign-in links, and deleting from the installed app also clears practice data stored on that device. We retain limited purchase, refund, dispute, security, or legal records only where necessary to fulfill transactions, resolve support inquiries, prevent abuse, protect the service, or comply with legal obligations, as detailed in our Privacy Policy. Canceling a paid subscription does not delete your Virtu account or local data on your devices. When your Plus access ends, Plus cloud continuity backups stored online are deleted 90 days later unless you restart Plus before then, and we notify you before deletion.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If you are a consumer residing in another country, you also retain all protections guaranteed by the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
19. Dispute resolution
If a dispute arises, please contact support@virtu-oso.com first so we can work with you in good faith to resolve it. If the dispute is not resolved amicably, either party may bring an action before the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act of the Republic of Korea or other applicable law. If you are a consumer residing outside Korea, you may also bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence where permitted by local law.
20. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be severed or enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
21. Changes to these terms
Virtu may amend these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. When we amend these Terms, we will post the updated Terms and their effective date in the app and on the website at least 7 days before they take effect, or at least 30 days in advance if the changes are unfavorable to you, in which case we will also notify you individually by email or in-app notice. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may terminate this agreement by deleting your account before the effective date; continuing to use Virtu after the effective date without objecting constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
22. Entire agreement
These Terms (including the Community guidelines) constitute the entire agreement between you and Virtu regarding the service and supersede any prior or contemporaneous understandings or agreements regarding the service. How we process personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
