The third of Liszt's six Consolations, S. 172, published by Breitkopf & Härtel in 1850. Marked Lento placido, a long singing melody in D-flat major floats over a gently rocking left-hand accompaniment in triplets, and a free bar of rippling sixteenths leads to the hushed close. This edition follows the Breitkopf & Härtel print, plate 8085.
