The C minor fugue from Book I of The Well-Tempered Clavier. Three voices take up a short, springing subject in turn, and its sixteenths run on through the episodes between the entries. It closes over a held low C, on a C major chord. This edition follows Bach's autograph of 1722, compared with the Bach-Gesellschaft edition of 1866.
