Claude Debussy
Score
The second prelude of Debussy's first book of Préludes, published by Durand in 1910. Marked Modéré and "in a rhythm without strictness, caressing", it is built almost entirely on the whole-tone scale over a recurring low B-flat, with a short pentatonic passage before the opening returns; as in all the Préludes, the title stands at the end, in parentheses. This edition follows the 1910 Durand print.
