June: BarcarolleOp. 37bis No. 6

June: Barcarolle, the sixth of the twelve pieces of Tchaikovsky's The Seasons, written for the St Petersburg magazine Nouvellist, which printed one in each monthly issue of 1876 under lines of Russian verse; June's come from Aleksey Pleshcheyev. Marked Andante cantabile, in G minor and 4/4, its melody rocks like a boat song. A livelier G major Poco più mosso turns to an Allegro giocoso in 3/4 before the opening returns. This edition follows Louis Oesterle's 1909 Schirmer edition.
