Robert Schumann

The first movement of Schumann's Fantasie in C major, Op. 17, published in 1839 with a dedication to Liszt. Marked to be played 'throughout fantastically and passionately', it moves from a stormy opening through a middle section 'in the tone of a legend' and closes quietly in C major. This edition follows Clara Schumann's collected edition of 1879, compared with the Peters edition and an early Breitkopf & Härtel print.
