Pleading ChildScenes from Childhood · Op. 15 · IV

The fourth of the thirteen pieces in Schumann's Kinderszenen, Op. 15, composed in 1838 and published in 1839. A pleading melody in eighths floats over a murmuring sixteenth-note accompaniment shared between the hands; three ritardandos slow the pleas, and the piece stops on an unresolved dominant seventh chord. This edition follows the Breitkopf & Härtel first edition.
