From Schumann's Carnaval, Op. 9, 'little scenes on four notes', composed in 1834–35 and published in 1837. A German waltz in A-flat major, Molto vivace and semplice, interrupted by the Intermezzo 'Paganini', a Presto of leaping octaves in F minor, after which the waltz returns. This edition follows the Breitkopf & Härtel first edition.
