The thirteenth of the thirteen pieces in Schumann's Kinderszenen, Op. 15, composed in 1838 and published in 1839. A chorale-like meditation in G major, its quiet phrases marked by grace notes and fermatas, breaks off into a free recitative for the right hand alone; the opening chorale returns, and the cycle closes pianissimo on a G-major chord. This edition follows the Breitkopf & Härtel first edition.
