Fantasie in C majorOp. 17 · III

The finale of Schumann's Fantasie in C major, Op. 17, published in 1839 with a dedication to Liszt. A slow, sustained movement in 12/8, 'to be kept quiet throughout': broad melodies float over rippling arpeggios, grow more animated, and return to a soft close in C major. This edition follows Clara Schumann's collected edition of 1879, compared with the Peters edition and an early Breitkopf & Härtel print.
