Fantasie in C majorOp. 17 · II

The second movement of Schumann's Fantasie in C major, Op. 17, published in 1839 with a dedication to Liszt. A broad march in E-flat major, 'moderate, energetic throughout', driven by insistent dotted rhythms; in its closing section, 'much more animated', both hands leap across the keyboard. This edition follows Clara Schumann's collected edition of 1879, compared with the Peters edition and an early Breitkopf & Härtel print.
