Johann Sebastian Bach

  • Difficulty 5
  • D minor
  • 2 min
  • 44 measures

The D minor fugue from Book I of The Well-Tempered Clavier, written for three voices in 3/4 time. The subject opens alone in the upper voice after an eighth rest, and the score carries many trills and short wedges on single notes. After 44 bars the fugue closes under fermatas on a D major chord. This edition follows Franz Kroll's Bach-Gesellschaft edition of 1866.
