Prelude in C majorOp. 28 No. 1

Frédéric Chopin

  • Difficulty 7
  • C major
  • 1 min
  • 34 measures

The first of Chopin's 24 Preludes, Op. 28, published in 1839. Marked Agitato, it runs in restless triplet and quintuplet figures through both hands; a stretto drives it to a climax, and after a softening it settles, tranquillo, on a long-held C-major chord. Edited from Theodor Kullak's 1882 teaching edition, with its fingering, and compared with the first editions.
