Frédéric Chopin

  • Difficulty 8
  • A-flat major
  • 3 min
  • 90 measures

The seventeenth of Chopin's 24 Preludes, Op. 28, published in 1839. Marked Allegretto and p in 6/8, a singing melody floats over eighth-note chords repeated in both hands; it wanders through distant keys and returns ff, and in the sotto voce close a low A-flat struck fz again and again sounds beneath the melody as it fades, perdendosi, to a final chord under a fermata. This edition follows Breitkopf & Härtel's first edition of 1839.
