Scherzo No. 4 in E majorOp. 54

Frédéric Chopin

  • Difficulty 8
  • E major
  • 15 min
  • 967 measures

The last of Chopin’s four Scherzos, composed in 1842 and published in 1843, and the only one in a major key. A light Presto in E major, with running leggiero figures, gives way to a long, singing middle section, Più lento, in C-sharp minor; the opening returns, and a Più presto coda closes in E major. This edition follows the French first edition, published by Schlesinger in 1843.
