Nocturne in B-flat minorOp. 9 No. 1

Frédéric Chopin

  • Difficulty 7
  • B-flat minor
  • 5 min
  • 86 measures

The first of the three nocturnes Chopin published as Op. 9 in 1832–33, dedicated to Madame Camille Pleyel. A slow melody in 6/4 sings over wide left-hand arpeggios and spins out into long ornamental runs; a hushed middle section in D♭ major moves in octaves, and the opening returns to close in B♭ major. This edition follows Kistner's first German edition.
