Score

BarcarolleOp. 60

Frédéric Chopin

  • Difficulty 8
  • F-sharp major
  • 9 min
  • 116 measures

Chopin’s only Barcarolle, composed in 1845–46 and published in 1846, is one of his last large works for the piano. Over a rocking 12/8 bass in F-sharp major, an Allegretto melody sings in thirds and sixths; a Poco più mosso leads to a sotto voce section in A major. A Più mosso gathers the music, and two free runs lead to the ff close. This edition follows the French first edition, published by Brandus in 1846.
