Nocturne in F minorOp. 55 No. 1

Frédéric Chopin

  • Difficulty 7
  • F minor
  • 4 min
  • 102 measures

The first of Chopin's two Op. 55 nocturnes, composed in 1843 and published in 1844 with a dedication to his pupil Jane Stirling. A plain, sorrowful F minor melody walks over a steady accompaniment; a restless Più mosso in triplets breaks in, and after the melody returns a flowing triplet coda carries the piece to F major. This edition follows the 1878 Breitkopf & Härtel collected edition.
