Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minorOp. 58 · IV

Frédéric Chopin

  • Difficulty 10
  • B minor
  • 5 min

The finale of Chopin's Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor, composed in 1844 and published in 1845. After eight bars of forceful chords, the Presto non tanto in 6/8 sets out its agitated theme over a driving accompaniment. The theme appears three times between brilliant running episodes, its accompaniment quickening each time, and the movement closes in B major. This edition follows the Breitkopf & Härtel collected edition of 1878, compared with Chopin's autograph printer's copy.
