Étude in A minorOp. 25 No. 11

Also known as Winter Wind Étude

Frédéric Chopin

  • Difficulty 10
  • A minor
  • 3 min
  • 96 measures

The eleventh of Chopin's twelve Études Op. 25, published in 1837 and dedicated to the Countess Marie d'Agoult; its nickname "Winter Wind" is not Chopin's. A four-bar Lento states the march-like theme quietly; then, Allegro con brio, the right hand sweeps up and down the keyboard in rapid sixteenths while the left hand carries the theme. This edition follows the 1879 Breitkopf & Härtel collected edition, with its printed fingering.
