Prelude in D minorOp. 28 No. 24

Frédéric Chopin

  • Difficulty 10
  • D minor
  • 2 min
  • 77 measures

The twenty-fourth of Chopin's 24 Preludes, Op. 28, published in 1839. Marked Allegro appassionato, a passionate melody with trills and sweeping runs unfolds over a left hand that keeps up wide sixteenth-note figures almost throughout; after descending chromatic thirds and a fff run down to the lowest D, it ends on three low D's. This edition follows Breitkopf & Härtel's first edition of 1839.
