Invention No. 7 in E minorBWV 778

Johann Sebastian Bach

  • Difficulty 4
  • E minor
  • 2 min
  • 23 measures

The seventh of Bach's fifteen two-part Inventions, written out fair in 1723. In common time, an E minor subject in eighths and sixteenths, decorated with mordents, sounds over leaping octaves in the other hand, and the hands exchange the material; a long trill on a held D5 and long tied notes later in the piece lead back to E minor. Edited from the Bach-Gesellschaft edition of 1853.
