Bach's Prelude in A minor, BWV 942, a short keyboard prelude of 17 bars in 9/8. The right hand moves in flowing eighths over a left hand that answers in eighths or rests on single notes; sixteenth-note runs climb in bar 10, and near the end the upper line descends into the lower staff before the closing fermata. This edition follows the Bach-Gesellschaft edition edited by Ernst Naumann (1890), where it is the twelfth of its small preludes.
