Johann Sebastian Bach

  • Difficulty 6
  • C major
  • 2 min
  • 34 measures

The C major prelude that opens Book II of The Well-Tempered Clavier. It begins over a low C held in octaves through the first two bars, while sixteenth and thirty-second notes weave several voices between the hands. After 34 bars in common time, the bass C is held again under the last three bars and the piece closes on a C major chord with fermatas. This edition follows Franz Kroll's Peters edition, with his fingering.
