Frédéric Chopin

Chopin's Nocturne in G minor, Op. 37 No. 1, first published in 1840. Marked Andante sostenuto, it opens softly with an ornamented right-hand melody over left-hand chords, rising to forte and fortissimo. A quiet chordal middle section in E-flat major follows; then the opening melody returns, and the piece ends pianissimo on a rolled G major chord. This edition follows the Breitkopf & Härtel collected edition of Chopin's works (1878).
